Constituted of small
islands peopled by the Bozos in the XIIth century,
the town today called « the Venice of Mali » is a city truly
rescued from the waters.
As a matter of fact, the town was built thanks to dykes made by
its men.
Its cosmopolitism has favoured the melting of several ethnies
:
Peul, Bozo, Somono, Dogon, Bambara, Marka, Songhai, Bobo
and Mossi.
